"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."  It is an old saying that often has a lot of truth to it.

Each of us has things, both good and bad, that are passed on to us from previous generations.  In the same way, we pass things on to future generations.  Some of those things are genetic and have to do with physical and mental tendencies and capabilities.  Others of those things are more spiritual and emotional in nature.  We know that the children of alcoholics and drug abusers are often alcoholics and drug abusers themselves.  We know that physical and emotional abuse - both giving and taking it - also move from generation to generation.  Likewise, we all have many things about us, our attitudes, our tendencies, etc., both good and bad, that come at least in part from past generations.

Healing of the Family Tree invites us to look at our ancestry and look for those "things" that we might have inherited in some way or other.  We are then invited to bring those things to Jesus for healing or strengthening, as is needed.  We pray to the Lord, and wih one another, to heal those things in us and our families so that we might live freer lives and that future generations might be freed from some of the same bonds that we have had to wrestle with.


In early 2008, Fr. Mike Barrie came from California to give a very freeing and powerful retreat in the Healing of the Family Tree.  Arrangements are being made to bring Fr. Barrie back either late in 2008 oe early in 2009.  Watch this space for updates.
